Aubrey was a Speech-Language Pathologist, Donnie was graphic designer, but we both had a dream to travel the world and experience cultures. After three years of being married and dreaming about if something like this great adventure would be possible, we decided to quit the rat race and take on the world. We sold everything we had, quit our jobs, and took off! We don’t know how long we will get to do this, and we do have a goal of getting jobs in the UK eventually, but we are going to live it to the fullest while we can!

For our two year wedding anniversary, my husband and I decided to travel around Europe for two weeks! One of his friends recommended that we check out the fairytale town of Bruges in Belgium for a couple of days, so we decided to take the train from Paris to Brussels and then another train to Bruges. We actually got lost the first day (so this vlog is on the shorter side since I didn’t start vlogging until we were at our hotel late the first night) and I 100% forgot to do a hotel room tour since I was too excited to explore outside with the short amount of time we had, but I hope you still enjoy this travel vlog of my time in Bruges! xx Audrie

// ABOUT ME //
A little bit about me – I’m a content creator on Instagram, YouTube, and on my blog at living in Orange County, California (originally from the San Francisco Bay Area). I started posting outfit of the day (OOTD) photos on Instagram about two years ago when I was living in Dallas, Texas for work. I loved taking photos and posting on Instagram so much that I decided to expand and try out YouTube and blogging as well.

When I was living in the city, my personal style was a bit more streetwear 90’s grunge, but now that I live in Southern California and closer to the ocean, my style has become a lot more cozy and comfortable with a lot of bohemian influences.

If I had to describe my fashion sense on my blog, Instagram aesthetic, and YouTube editing style now, I’d probably describe it as modern bohemian with an edge, since I tend to wear and do things that might be considered unconventional to others. I’m not sure if that is true, but since I’ve moved back to California, I just find that I gravitate to what is easiest and effortless for me while living near the beach where it always feels like summer.

Thank you so much for stopping by my YouTube channel and I hope that you enjoy what you’ll find here! I love fashion, beauty (especially hair styling and bohemian braids), DIY projects and how to videos, making travel diaries of all the places that I’m lucky enough to travel’ target=’_blank’> visit , and sharing my (for lack of a better term) “modern bohemian” lifestyle. Day Trip To Ghent, Belgium | Travel Vlog | World Culture Network

Welcome to our Ghent, Belgium vlog. This video is not as much a Ghent travel guide, but more of a Ghent, Belgium travel experience with food, attractions, and tour ism that can be explored in 1 day in Ghent.

In this episode of #TheDayTripShow, we take a day trip from Brussels to Ghent, a port city in northwest Belgium. We take a tram to the Ghent Tourist Board office and get off the tram before the Koren Market to walk up the remaining distance.

After collecting a Gent City Cards, we head to the Gravensteen to explore this medieval monument. After a detailed tour , we continue our Ghent Day Trip looking for food. Ghent is shut on Mondays, so we settled for Mc Donald’s. After lunch, we went for a free water tram guided tour to get the gorgeous view of the Graslei in Ghent also known as mini-London.

We also travel’ target=’_blank’> visit ed St. Bavo’s Cathedral on our Ghent Day Trip. By the end of the day, the Market Square was magically lit up as we rushed for local Belgian Waffles, Belgian Hot Chocolate, and some traditional sugar sweets. We hadn’t explored it all, but our Ghent day trip from Brussels was truly eventful.

We highly recommend day trip s from Brussels to both Ghent and Bruges in Belgium.

Bruges City Guide – Travel Belgium Travel Video Transcript:

Well, Hello and welcome to Brugge! We are excited to explore the city. We just got here in the afternoon. The light is perfect, the day is beautiful and we’re going to go explore and see what the city is all about.

Once in Bruges we set off to see the Old Town. We watched horse-drawn carriages roll down the square, admired the buildings, and travel’ target=’_blank’> visit ed chocolate shops because if there’s one thing you have to do in Belgium, it’s sample all their delicious chocolate.

So good morning. It is the start of day 2 here in Bruges, so we’re going to continue sightseeing. I think the first order of business is to try and find a boat so we can take a little tour down the canals and maybe after that we’ll start thinking about food. I know there is a few Belgian dishes that we’re itching to try so let’s get started with the day.

We started off the morning with a cruise down the canals. Like many cities in Europe, Bruges too has earned the nickname ‘The Venice of the North’ due to the numerous waterways that run through the city. It was a great way to get a closer look at the city, and it didn’t hurt that we had swans to keep us company.

So we have a very exciting taste test coming up today. We are in Bruges, Belgium and that means we have to try Belgian fries. Not French fries. So let’s get a look at that and then I’m going to give you a bit of the history behind it.

So there is a bit of a heated debate about whether fries or French fries or Belgian fries. Where exactly did they originate? So our tour guide yesterday was telling us that apparently during World War I there were a lot of British and American soldiers who were between Belgium and France and sometimes they didn’t know what country they were in. All they knew is that they could hear French being spoken. So they assumed we must be in France and these must be French Fries.

So it is time for our last taste test here in Belgium, so we stopped by a chocolate shop to pick up some hand made chocolate. And the Belgians actually used to have a colony in Africa, so that meant cocoa beans, and plenty of time to perfect the art of chocolate making. So that means today they are one of the leading experts in chocolate production, so today is a chocolate taste test.

Waffles! Waffles! We are having waffles!

Well, considering today is our last full day in Belgium we couldn’t leave the country without trying at least one Belgian waffle.

And to prove its authenticity it even has a Belgian flag. Why don’t you take out that flag and wave it. Come on, go wave it.

Wave the flag?

Wave that flag.

Belgian waffles, dun da da dun da da.

Belgian waffles. dun da da dun dah.

So the funny thing about Belgian waffles is that there is no such thing as Belgian waffles in Belgium.

Sure, in North America we call them Belgium waffles but here they are just regular old waffles.

And that is only because we have crappy waffles. Yes, we have to put them in the toaster. We usually buy them from the frozen section in Canada.

But anyway, what sets these waffles apart is that they are a lot larger, a lot fluffier and the squares are a lot bigger than your average waffles that you buy from the frozen section back in North America. So let’s dig in before this starts melting.

This is part of our Travel in Belgium video series showcasing Belgian food, Belgian culture and Belgian cuisine.
